On top of the World

The phrase 'on top of the world' came from someone suggesting the earths axis as an unusual place. I got thinking about longitude and latitude and found this nifty image of the longitude and latitude of the world.


Initial sketches


Each letter (in theory) is bent to a 30 degree angle left and right from the centre. I will vectorize all of the letterforms. I want to somehow keep the grid and the map to make the connection between the phrase and the typeface.
